About Taste of Cities 🌍
Every city has a story, and one of the best ways to understand it is through its food.
Taste of Cities is a curated guide to the world's most delicious destinations, helping travelers discover the dishes that define a place, the history behind them, and the restaurants, markets, and street food stalls that do them justice.
Food is never just food. It carries memory, migration, tradition, and belonging. Sometimes it arrives on fine china, but more often it's wrapped in paper, passed across a counter, or shared at a crowded table.
For each city, we highlight the traditional foods that have stood the test of time, the local favorites people actually line up for, and the trendy bites shaping where a city is headed. Then we point you to the best places to try them, from legendary institutions to hidden neighborhood gems.
This is just the beginning. New cities and foods are added often, and if you have a dish, restaurant, or local favorite worth sharing, I'd love to hear from you.
The Traveler Behind the Taste

Hi, I'm Sarah, the creator of Taste of Cities. ✨
By day, I'm a tech girlie and data scientist. The rest of the time, I'm usually chasing the feeling of arriving somewhere new and letting a city unfold, one street, one story, and one shared meal at a time.
I've traveled to more than 50 countries and 150 cities, often solo, always searching for a deeper way to understand the places I visit. For me, food is one of the most powerful ways to do that. A sizzling street food cart, a bustling market stall, family-run bakery, or crowded noodle counter can reveal how a city moves, gathers, celebrates, and remembers.
Taste of Cities grew out of six years of obsessive research, handwritten lists, chaotic Notes app recommendations, and a deep love for the dishes that define a place: iconic classics with centuries of history to local favorites that bring people together.
My hope is simple: to help you experience culture through food, wherever you are in the world, with more curiosity, context, and joy.
I'm so happy you're here. 🧡
